About the Event
Our Mental Health Champion training is split over two days, with each day lasting three hours from 0930hrs to 1230hrs and will cover the following:
- What Is Mental Health?
- What Is Peer Support?
- How To Signpost
- How To Build Rapport & Listen?
- How To Better Manage Your Mental Wellbeing?
It will provide you with a general awareness and greater understanding of mental health and peer support, creating a solid foundation on which you can build. From here we look at the tips and techniques required to swiftly gain someone's trust, enabling you to build the all important relationship with them and then how to 'Listen' effectively, which can be harder than you think, so you can identify how best to help and support them.
Finally, and most importantly, you cannot possibly be there for others if you don't know how to effectively manage your own mental wellbeing and so we look at the importance of self management, which is made up of three key areas, self-awareness, self-care and self-help. Not only will this assist you with managing your own mental health, it will provide you with the building blocks required, to assist someone else with identifying how to help themselves and create a basic 'Mind Care Plan' for them to follow.
